JDNB Interview - Addicted

Addicted is a 21yr old producer/dj from Bristol.  With release's on labels such as Invicta Audio, Timeless Audio, Pick n Mix and Born On Road, it was only a matter of time before Liondub came calling to get an EP for the label.  With a number 1 single in the Junodownload dnb charts alongside Toby Ross called ' Shake', his recent Liondub Street Series release was well worth the wait.  We caught up with the young producer to find out more.

Hi, thanks for chatting with us here at JDNB.  How have you been coping with the Covid-19 Pandemic and what have you been doing to fill your time?

I've been very inconsistent whilst producing in the lockdown last year as it was a struggle finding motivation at some points last year and all the sit down raves weren't working for me, the events / nightlife scene just didn't feel right.  But with a lot of my friends in the scene living in Bristol and everything is open again we’re doing loads of projects together now. I’m a lot more confident with my production,  and I'm working on another EP for a couple of labels for later this year. A lot of collabs with some talented producers on the way.

Bristol has always been known for producing  top quality drum and bass talent, how does it feel to be reppin for the city?

You can't really beat Bristol in my opinion, it's always been unique and the vibe all the people from here have is different than any other city that I've played at. There's constant nightlife that thrives through drum and bass, and I'm grateful that I live here and can have this all available to me in my city.

What musical influences did you have growing up?

I've adapted a lot with music taste, but drum and bass influences? Always loved Netsky since i was 12 years old listening to all his liquid classics, and as i grew older i developed liking for jump up from the likes of Dominator & Logan D , Bou , K Motionz ect, but i get inspired by a lot of different styles that i put into my own tunes now.

What would you say has been your 3 biggest achievements so far within the drum and bass scene?

Reaching number 1 on Junodownload for a week , getting support on my tracks from the likes of Voltage , Bou, Jappa & Lupo.

What does your studio consist of, and what’s your fav plug-in or piece of kit to use?

My Mac, Adam Audio t7v’s, and my TV, i use a lot of fab filter and output plug ins, and serum & massive for sound design.

Who are your top 3 dnb producers right now?

Waeys / L Side / TI

Liondub Street Series Vol.63: Shake is out now on Liondub International.  How does it feel to get this EP out there finally?

I've waited almost 2 years for these tracks to come out with constant attention from artists and supporters, so I'm chuffed that it still hit number 1 after being played out for ages!

And a big well done for hitting the top spot in the dnb singles and all genres chart’s over on Junodownload with the title track ‘Shake’ alongside Toby Ross.  How did you feel when you heard the news?

It felt amazing, was well worth the wait to see that number 1.

Where do you get your inspiration from when making tracks?

Can be anything really i get a lot of creative sparks out of nowhere, you can never tell what inspires you until you know, you just have to try or listen to different things

If you could remix one track from Liondub International,  which one would it be?

One of the tunes from Bou’s Street Series EP

What are your goals for the next year?

Signing more music to labels I look up to! And to get my first abroad booking

Thanks for your time.  Lastly, any thanks or shoutouts?

Shout out to the DBS college and their teachers for helping me get to where I am today.
