"This year is the 20th anniversary of my album 'High Society' which featured the track 'Racing Green' and that tune was a real breakthrough for me as not only did it get played by a lot of the big DJs in the Drum & Bass scene like Andy C and Fabio but it also got played by DJs from other genres like Annie Mac and Norman Jay (it also has the honour of being the first ever tune Annie Mac played on Radio One).
Over the years a couple of people have tried remixing 'Racing Green' but it never seemed to work and I eventually got the idea that I should wait to release a remix of this track until enough time had passed that there would be new artists around who are too young to remember the original track, so they didn’t feel the pressure of mixing a big tune like this. And so the timing worked out perfectly when I asked one of my favourite new school producers, Disrupta, to remix 'Racing Green' because he had never heard the tune before but could immediately hear the potential in the sounds of the track for a remix in 2024. In my opinion he really came through and has made a timeless sounding remix that’s fit for a dancefloor in 2024 and pays homage original sound.
The track has been getting great responses wherever I’ve played it this summer such as at Boomtown and Hospitality in the Woods and it’s also great it’s got the thumbs up from a lot of the DJs who supported the original track like Dj Marky, Dj Zinc and London Elektricity.”
