UK based drum & bass label Druid Records is currently at a turning point. After hitting a high-reaching standard release after release, they’ve become heralded as a pioneering independent imprint within the contemporary scene which has helped give a home to its burgeoning talent. They’ve built a platform in which to launch artists from across the scene, whether that’s more tech influenced producers and those who are more inclined towards the darker trenches of neurofunk. And they’re now heading for the big guns, already establishing themselves as a pillar of the growing underground movement and now becoming a central hub for drum & bass within their own right.

Their forthcoming release shows exactly why this is. Delivered by Tobax, a Russian producer who has helped pave the way for both their segment of the scene as well as its wider audience, it’s a cut throat offering which signifies just how destructive Druid’s back catalogue really is. After releasing on the likes of A.M.C’s Titan Records, he’s about to continue to raise the bar within his discography, debuting a brand new release which signifies why he’s garnered support from heavyweights such as Noisia, June Miller, Ed Rush and Mefjus.

‘Bassjudge’ is a jumping, chaotic descent, one which instantly creates a gyrating hook that becomes impossible to move your synapses away from. ‘Bassjudge’ fully encompasses the senses and it’s a track which comes at you constantly from start to finish, always trying to get in the next hit before its looping drum rolls throw another flurry of cuts alongside its flying beat patterns. And the reverse ’ANTRPMFSZD’ follows the same gritty style, manic from its first scuttling sets of percussion and hollowed out snare drums. There’s a climatic rise before its drop, which then cascades down into a fearless assault which explodes on impact. From start to finish, the record does what it sets out to do and that’s to cause absolute carnage on the dancefloor. Although looking at the previous releases of Druid Records, this was only to be expected, as with every track they’ve done the upmost damage inside the collections of music lovers across the globe.
