30 years of history on film, original 1990s broadcasts, rare archive footage and the pioneers are recorded on who shaped jungle and drum & bass. In my opinion sometimes one video may leave out crucial evidence of other's involvement. This isn't intentional by anyone (or at least we like to think so) but meerly so many artists and collaborations, so many people are involved sometimes one book, one post, one flyer, one article, one documentary just doesn't cover it all and that is worth bearing in mind. I have curated 3 posts to accompany this :

Genres & Sub Genres

Following our exploration of the history of jungle and its musical roots, we take you deeper into the foundations of our culture through a collection of historical films, television broadcasts and retrospective documentaries.

From Jamaican sound systems and underground rave culture, breakbeat, hardcore and everything inbetween to pirate radio, independent labels and the birth of jungle, these films capture the people, places and sounds that helped shape the scene. We distinguish between footage recorded at the time and later interviews in which artists reflect on the past, because both have value, but they are different kinds of historical evidence.

More than nostalgia, this archive celebrates the pioneers, respects the foundations and helps preserve the story of jungle for future generations.

How to read this archive: “Original broadcast” means footage aired during the era described; “retrospective” means a later film looking back. Some entries are trailers, production features or archive references rather than complete films. Availability and third-party embedding permissions may change. These films document cultural history.

Keep the history alive

Old broadcasts capture a scene as it happened. Later films allow pioneers to share their memories, challenge assumptions and explain how the culture developed. Together they build a richer picture of jungle’s past.

Respect the foundations. Celebrate the pioneers. Preserve the culture.
