For LSB, releasing on V has roots stretching right back to his earliest days in Drum & Bass. Long before establishing himself as one of the scene's most respected producers and DJs.
"This is pure early-days, day-dreaming, bucket-list stuff for me," says LSB. "My raving crew was a mixed bag of tastes, but the one DJ we all truly agreed on was Bryan. I remember us driving down from Norwich to Planet V and Liquid V at Egg in early 2004. Sometimes my rave memory surprises me!"
For Vektah, the release is equally personal. Having become close friends with LSB over the past few years, the pair's studio partnership grew naturally, making the news that Bryan was interested in the tracks all the more significant.
"After being such a big fan of both V and LSB for as long as I can remember, this is a monumental release in my career," says Vektah. "Seeing my name on that legendary V artwork is really something special."
"I've always watched what LSB's been doing from afar," says Bryan Gee. "We've had conversations over the years about remixes and different things, but it was never quite the right time. Then after a few drinks at SUNANDBASS we got talking properly about music, and a few months later these tunes came through.
"'Penny Drop' had a slightly harder, more rolling edge than I was expecting. Straight away it felt like a V tune and really tapped into that side of the label. Then 'Gin Pan Alley' has that classic rolling liquid feel, deep, musical and effortless. I'm very happy to finally have both LSB and Vektah releasing on V."
Across 'Penny Drop' and 'Gin Pan Alley', LSB & Vektah tap straight into V's rolling, soulful side, balancing deep basslines and fluid grooves with enough weight to keep both tracks firmly aimed at the dancefloor.
A bucket-list release for the pair and a collaboration years in the making, 'Penny Drop / Gin Pan Alley' brings LSB & Vektah into the V family for the very first time.
