We welcome American DJ/producer Sooklal hailing from Raleigh,North Carolina for his debut ep on Offworld with his excellent mix of modern melodic drum and bass.
Cutting his teeth in underground clubs from 2012, Sooklal stepped into drum and bass production in 2019, refining his craft with focus and patience. A feature in 2022 signalled momentum - but the real turning point came off the decks. After battling alcoholism and addiction, he emerged the following year clear-headed and locked in.
Trust & Intimacy reflects that journey.
251 Theory opens with crisp rolling drums, deep bass pressure, and bright melodic flourishes in this upbeat confident tune.
Title track Trust & Intimacy continues the warm rolling vibe with synths, guitar splashes and resonant filtered drums.
Faded Memories is up next in a sonorous mood, with male vocal bites and rolling drums and a great switchup further in.
Closing track Running Games brings a soulful finish, blending piano, sax and classic breakwork into something both nostalgic and forward-looking.
