Soul Central’s classic “Strings Of Life” gets a serious jungle makeover as CLIPZ steps up with the Junglist Mix, part of David Rodigan’s new House Of Roots project on Defected Records.
CLIPZ takes the iconic house record and flips it into a full-on junglist workout, bringing together two sides of dance music history while keeping the spirit of the original at its core. The track follows Shy FX’s reggae reworking of Fish Go Deep’s “The Cure & The Cause” as the second release from House Of Roots.
Curated by legendary selector David Rodigan MBE, House Of Roots explores the connection between house, reggae, dub, jungle and Drum & Bass through three Defected classics. Alongside “Strings Of Life (Junglist Mix),” the project features Shy FX’s version of “The Cure & The Cause” and Prince Fatty’s reworking of The Vision’s “Heaven.”
The project will also arrive as a limited-edition 7-inch vinyl box set, featuring the three remixes alongside instrumentals, dubs and a 16-page booklet.
For D&B and jungle heads, CLIPZ’s “Strings Of Life (Junglist Mix)” is the standout connection point — a classic house record given a fresh junglist identity.
