Triple Threat & The Voice UK

From the underground to national TV. It was a seriously proud moment for UK drum & bass this weekend as Triple Threat stepped onto one of the biggest television music stages in the country, appearing on The Voice UK on Saturday 12 September. Made up of legendary MC Harry Shotta, Y-Zer, Tiny K and DJ/producer Ironlung, Triple Threat brought something genuinely different to a programme normally dominated by traditional vocal performances. Rather than changing themselves to fit mainstream television, the crew took their own sound, bars and unmistakable D&B energy straight onto the stage in front of coaches will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones, Kelly Rowland, Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones.

Performing their original track “More Than That,” Triple Threat showed a national television audience exactly why MC culture remains such an important part of drum & bass. The performance combined Harry Shotta’s experience and commanding delivery with Y-Zer and Tiny K’s lyrical ability, backed by the production and musical direction of Ironlung. It was energetic, confident and completely unapologetic about where it came from. The reaction became even more memorable when will.i.am got involved and grabbed the microphone, creating one of the standout moments from the episode and giving D&B culture a huge piece of mainstream television exposure.
