Every now and then, a track lands in the inbox which is an instant, absolute no-brainer to sign. And this latest offering from Phrase & Rider Shafique is exactly that. If the name wasn’t clear enough, ‘Worldwide’ is a debut collaboration between New Zealand based producer Conor Butler AKA Phrase - featuring vocals from the inimitable Rider Shafique, a UK-based MC & vocalist whose name should hardly be foreign to you.
‘Worldwide’ comes to life with wonderfully wonky sonics and a looming sense of unease, quickly backed with Rider’s unique cadence and world class lyrics. The production quality from Phrase is simply top tier, effortlessly blending a multitude of influences - splashy amen fills, low-down dirty sub and tribal-esque percussion. All finished off with a slew of delightful bass grunts and synth stabs, providing perfect foil to Rider’s vocal presence.
This one is certainly live & direct, grab ‘Worldwide’ landing in all good stores on Friday the 10th of October!
